Dr Gilbert qualified from St Mary’s Hospital, London in 1997. He is interested in all aspects of general practice. He currently works four days a week.

Dr Mantle qualified from Bristol University in 1995. She currently works on Mondays and Thursdays.
Dr Ben Basterfield, male

Dr Basterfield qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2000. He enjoys all aspects of general practice with interests in elderly care medicine and palliative care.
Dr David Morris, male
MB BS (2013)
Dr Morris qualified from University of Nottingham in 2013. He is interested in all aspects of general practice and works four days a week. He enjoys being out on Dartmoor with his dog.
Dr Rachel Tyler, female
BMed Sci, BMBS ( 1997), DRCOG, FRCGP
Dr Tyler qualified from University of Nottingham in 1997 and completed her GP training in Nottingham and Derby, before relocating to the West Country in 2003. She was GP in Plymouth for 21 years and was involved in many aspects of general practice including the Local Medical Committee, and was a Clinical Director for one of the Primary Care Networks.
She has an interest in women’s health, GP training and is also involved with teaching and examining at Peninsula Medical School. Outside of general practice she is busy with her three children, walking on Dartmoor, crochet and painting.

Dr Hawkey qualified from the University of Dundee in 2016. He is interested in all areas of general practice and currently works five days a week.
Dr Kate Northridge, female

Dr Northridge qualified from Peninsula Medical School in 2009. She is interested in all aspects of general practice and in 2024, began also working as part of our Research team.

Dr Mills graduated from the University of Wales in 2012. She is interested in all aspects of General Practice and works two days a week.
Dr Smitesh Patel, male
MBBS (2006), MRCS (Lond.), RCGP
Dr Patel qualified from University College London Medical School in 2006. He has recently moved to Cornwall after working in Essex as a GP and clinical director for the last 10 years. His initial training was in trauma and orthopaedic surgery. Within primary care he has a specialist interest in joint injections, minor surgery and acute/emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys reading autobiographies of popular culture icons, walking, cycling, swimming and watching his children play rugby.

Dr Harnett graduated from the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in 1992. Before joining our practice, she worked for many years as a GP Partner at a practice in Plymouth. She has a broad interest in all areas of general practice and is also a GP Trainer, supporting the development and training of future GPs. Dr Harnett works at the Practice three days a week.
Outside of work, Dr Harnett enjoys spending time with her grown-up children and grandchildren, who keep her busy. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming and a variety of craft activities, including patchwork and crochet.
Dr Tom Cummins, male

Dr Cummins qualified from University of Nottingham in 2021. He is interested in all aspects of general practice and works three days a week.
Dr Sani Suraj, male
MBBS, MRCGP
Dr Suraj qualified from Bayero University, Kano, in 2019 and completed his GP training in Cornwall. He enjoys the variety of general practice and has particular interests in paediatrics, musculoskeletal medicine and medical education. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, travelling and keeping active.
