Repeat Prescriptions

Routine repeated medication authorised by a doctor can be ordered:

If you collect your medication from us please allow us a full five working days.

If you order your medication after 17:30 it will not be dealt with until the next working day, please also make allowances for weekends and bank holidays. You may order your prescription up to a week in advance. We may allow you to order earlier in special circumstances, for example if you are going on holiday.

Generic Medication

A generic drug is the same as a brand named drug in dosage, safety, strength, quality, the way it works, the way it is taken and the way it should be used.

This practice may dispense you a generic medication rather than a particular brand. This will mean that your usual medication may look slightly different or be in slightly different packaging on occasions. Your medication will continue to work in exactly the same way as before.

Medication Queries

For any medication queries, please contact the dispensary on 01579 324 252 (Oak Tree Surgery) or 01579 362 249 (Pensilva Health Centre). Please note that our dispensary lines are now open 10am to 4pm.

The practice provides a dispensing service for patients who live more than one mile from their nearest chemist, providing they request this service either when they first register with the practice, or if they move from a town to a country address.

Please note that unwanted medicines can be returned.

How To Obtain Medicines Urgently

In hours

Urgent supplies are available to prescribing patients during surgery hours. Please telephone or come to the surgery with your request.

Out of hours

Medicines are available from the community pharmacies when open. Patients should contact the pharmacies to ascertain whether an emergency supply can be made without a prescription for the medication they require.

If a prescription is required by the pharmacy then the patient should telephone the surgery number 01579 362 249 where they will be transferred to the out of hours service and explain they need a prescription for an emergency supply of their medication.
